Save Money on Appliance Rebate Program
February 22, 2010
If you are planning to purchase a major appliance such as a clothes washer, hot water heater, refrigerator or dishwasher, please check with Arlington Heights retailers to see if your purchase qualifies for a significant rebate.
As part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, participating retailers are able to offer rebates to customers who replace older appliances with specific Energy Star qualified appliances.
There are two separate rebate programs. The first, which began in January, offers 25 percent rebates for Energy Star qualified hot water heaters. The second rebate program, which will run from April 16-25, offers a 15 percent rebate on Energy Star-qualified appliances including clothes washers, dishwashers, freezers, refrigerators, and room air conditioners. The rebates are for in-store purchases only; no online sales are eligible.
Besides instant rebates, customers should ask retailers about an additional mail-in rebate available from the State if they show proof their old appliance was recycled.
