Our Family We are a company made of talented and dedicated people who take pride in a job well done – and like to have fun doing it. Our days are built around 4 daily goals; to learn, to teach, to WOW and to improve. More than 6,500 people make our team strong and successful as we serve our customers and build this exciting company. How We Started In 1946, Clarence Hoogland started Midstates Appliance & Supply Company. In 1953, Clarence's son Charlie Hoogland took over the company. In the 1970s, Midstates got "stuck" with a large quantity of videos. Charlie's team got the idea to rent the videos, and in 1978 Family Video was founded. Today Charlie's sons Keith and Eric lead our company as President and Vice President, respectively. Today, Arlington Heights Store #48, stands as a historic store in the company!

Memorial Day Weekend Activities Expand

February 6, 2012
Plans for a Memorial Day 2012 are bigger and better than ever before, according to an organizer of the activities, Greg Padovani, Chairman of the Veterans Memorial Park Committee Honoring the service and sacrifice of veterans and their families.

The expanded activities for Memorial Day weekend are still being finalized, but here’s a taste of what you can expect:
  • A Benefit Concert at the Metropolis Performing Arts Centre, on Saturday, May 26, from 3 – 5 pm to include nationally known jazz singer Tammy McCann providing a musical backdrop as she performs songs from the WWII era, along with several moving tributes to our veterans and current servicemen. This event is open to the public. Metropolis is also teaming up with Peggy Kinnane's Irish Restaurant & Pub to offer dinner packages. Tickets and dinner packages on sale soon - check back for more details. Benefits will be donated to the Memorial Park Fund.
  • Memorial Day Essay Contest sponsored Glueckert Funeral Home, for high school and junior high school students. The top two essays will be awarded great prizes and the winning essays will be read at the Memorial Day Benefit Concert. More details to come.
  • Memorial Day Parade - Monday, May 28th, step off at 9:30 am  - sure to be a memorable one, planned by the Arlington Heights VFW organization.
Memorial Day Ceremony at Memorial Park, following the parade, at which the names of our Fallen Heroes are read may also include a large choir of singers from Arlington Heights churches and schools that will sing military service songs. Plans may also include the participation of the US Navy 50 State Flag Drill Team in addition to the US Navy Honor Guard. Professional Jazz Singer Tammy McCann is expected to sing the National Anthem.
